How do you take your tea, gov’na? While in Victoria, Hip Travel stopped in at the lovely Fairmont Empress Hotel for a spot o’ tea. Afternoon tea is served at the hotel’s “Tea Room,” which is often packed with people who come for the excellent service and delicious food. The hotel serves your tea along with a selection of excellent fresh fruit, scones with preserves and sweet cream, tea sandwiches, and luscious desserts. See tea photos.

The tea service is a little on the pricey side: $55 USD per person during peak season, $25 in the off season. But for the service you get, the signature blend tin, and chance to say you did afternoon tea at The Empress Hotel, it’s well worth it.

  1. It seems a good place where to go for a great afternoon tea.
I went to Luxor in Egypt few months ago and had my best-ever afternoon tea at the Winter Palace Hotel. Served everyday from 4pm in the Victoria Lounge overlooking the garden, the afternoon tea consists of a selection of sandwiches filled with salmon, chicken, etc., pastries and cakes. All this brought to our table by attentive and smart waiters and with tea poured from pots into delicate cups. Cost of this deluxe treat 10 Euros per head. Awesome! :-))))
